Welcome to the blog for Prof. John Talbird's English 221 class. The purpose of this site is two-fold: 1) to continue the conversations we start in class (or to start conversations BEFORE we get to class) and 2) to practice our writing/reading on a weekly basis in an informal forum.

Welcome!
This first week (until Sat. 2/06 11:59 pm) will be extra credit. You can use this space to write comments about Tuesday night's class, about your experiences as a reader and/or writer, about your fears and excitements about taking Fiction Writing. Please feel free to use this space to tell us anything you'd like about yourself.

Well at first I was afraid to take this course; Now after what I saw on tuesday im having fun and hoping to get better at writing and getting closer to my goal. Also it's a great way to meet and make new friends.
ReplyDeleteI would say that I did not really have any fears of writing fiction. In fact after Tuesday's class, I am intrigued and feel more excited to create something I haven't really done before. I've been a big fan of other's work and always wondered what it took to create a fiction story. I feel that there is a good and very humorous group of students in the class, which is very cool to me. Everyone seemed very opened minded and friendly. I am looking forward to working with everyone this semester and I can't wait to see what stories they will tell.
ReplyDeleteI was totally blown away by the caliber of writers in the room. I look forward to learning with and from everyone. Tuesday night was a little intimidating, but I'm up for the challenge. If I can be 1/4 of what I read and listen to last night, I know taking this class would have been worth it.
ReplyDeleteIt seems to me that with life being so electronic with it's quick answers and responses this class is going to be exactly what so many of us need to take the time to ponder thoughts and to be able to expound on them. I am very happy I decided to take the class.
ReplyDeletei realized that when i begin to write i lose myself in my words and don't think much about what I'm writing just jot down anything that comes to mind. i was nervous about taking this class but realized it was exactly for me, after hearing everyones writing it appeared to me that everyone there was meant to be there with purpose.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the honest responses all! Here's to all "losing ourselves" in our writing (and each others) this term.
