Welcome to the blog for Prof. John Talbird's English 221 class. The purpose of this site is two-fold: 1) to continue the conversations we start in class (or to start conversations BEFORE we get to class) and 2) to practice our writing/reading on a weekly basis in an informal forum.

A-Z flash fiction Extasy

“Another one bites the dust” Yuri screams.  Both of us stop and Stare.
“Common’ Yuri come down off the ledge”
“Devils, Devils I say all of you” Yuri takes an extra step towards the ledge.
Extasy has that effect.  Fantasy becomes more real than, reality.  Georgia has this funny way of slowing life down, until it’s almost like a dream world, like a… Hallucination.  I call 911. Just as Yuri takes another step to the edge and sits. KFC music is playing in my ear.  Life has it’s mysteries I guess.
“Ma’am, are you still there?” Nodding my head yes, I reply.
“Operator, please help, Yuri is dangling off the building, SEND THE POLICE.”
“Police, Ma’am, I’m afraid you’ve dialed the wrong number.”
“Quiet down people I can’t hear her!”
“Repeat, what you said, sir. Surely, I know how to dial 911.”
There’s a bright light shining down on me.  Under me is a cold metal table.  Veins are throbbing in my arm.
“Where is Yuri?” Xanthous liquid seeps out of me, into a bag hooked onto the table.
“Yuri, Ma’am there is no one here by that name.”
“Zander, my name is Zander, can you tell me the last thing you remember?”
