Welcome to the blog for Prof. John Talbird's English 221 class. The purpose of this site is two-fold: 1) to continue the conversations we start in class (or to start conversations BEFORE we get to class) and 2) to practice our writing/reading on a weekly basis in an informal forum.

ANGLE by Ronald leach, This story I feel a deep connection too my father I didn't know too well. Where it says " I only knew an angle of my father" I felt that the character of the story felt that his or her father had two sides to him. Sometimes see the father as a mystery of a person. the jackpot for me that reminds me of my father not coming back where it says" He came home every day but was never there ". In my case my father would come see me and when he passed away he never came back. Just like here in this story.

It seems like such a fast pace to be born, finish school, meet people and have children. I think for men this meeting and having children presents many troubles. Girls are raised playing with dolls, thinking about the prince and the ferry tale wedding. There is no equivalent for boys. They get the rough and tumble rearing and none of that lends itself to being and becoming a father. I think this all effects the interaction of fathers and their children and from a child's point of view this creates an enormous amount of disappointment.
