1. The Title alone made questioned who was the person and who would be talking about "she" and who she was before this memory. Also made me wonder why she was a memory. After reading the first sentence "I didn't recognize her without her head my immediate reaction was "OMG where is her head?"
2.After reading the story some more and hearing the following description this person had to give about the body on the steel table, my heart and mind were going up and down. I hoped that it wasn't the mother that had to view the body of their headless daughter. Unfortunately it was the mother viewing this body and telling this story.
3.The mother who let the daughter have a day out with a guy friend starts to remember the precision of his haircut and then from that memory jumps to memory of her daughter when she was an infant and as she stated "preferred screams to sleep" and how if she told her that daughter that now she would feel bad which I can only assume means that she grew up to be a nice child and thoughtful of her mothers feelings.
4. The narrater or the mom repeats how she has taken a pill that the police most likely given her(to probably relax her). This mother starts to think of where the head can be, what the head which she asked "does it still have eyes"would be looking at in the forest where her head would be located in. The mother looked at the jewelry that she had given to her and rested on letting her keep the ring that she had given her.
5. After reminiscing the mother goes into the thought of what may have happened right before the accident and how happy her daughter and her friend probably was before the accident. She imagined them singing a song, a real happy scenary which I think was to keep her more sane imagining her daughter going happy even with the brutal reality that a tree had caused the removal of her daughters head. Even as she spoke of her daughters last moment she hoped that her daughter didn't realize it even happened because she was too busy singing. This story gave me all the details graphically and somewhat the emotion of a loved one who has to see their loved one in a police station morgue, only this loved one is still in a deep shock. I immediately went to a scene from like Law & order or CSI once I read the story but from the victims loved ones view and how they may feel. I only wished there was more dialogue at the end between the officer and her but then again the quick dialogue made it easier for me to understand the shock this mother is still in.
