Wimbledon

1. As always I start with decoding the title of the story, because the title of the story always give off great hint to what the story may be about. The name of this short story is called "Wimbledon" and I looked up Wimbledon which is a part of Greater London where all the famous tennis matches are taking place. Reading the first sentence made me laugh honestly because I thought I was the only one who heard tennis without watching sometimes kind of thought of the sound affects like that (not all the time though lmlll)
2. When the author continued on with the story and walked in on his girlfriend of two years masturbating to a tennis match it honestly confused me like why is she masturbating to tennis? I also sensed that the author may have felt a little embarrassed about telling this story because of the fake names he gave (Hillary and mike). I also felt his sense of frustration when she told him that she wanted to finish and be left alone
3.At this point I'm still pondering why she is masturbating to a tennis match. When "mike" goes and get him some hot coffee he realizes that his drugs are missing (woah story shifter!). Now it makes sense why she is masturbating to a tennis match she is high off his drugs (which he made sure the reader know it was his by the italicizing of "my"). Not only is she stealing his drugs but he is trying to prevent her from stealing while he is trying to quit hisself which makes the story have a little history between the two characters. The character than remembers who violent "Hillary" has become since the use of the drugs which she stills from him.
4. After thinking about how she has been acting since the use of the drugs and how he has been only trying to help her not end up like him addicted and its backfiring on him, Mike then takes some of these drugs and begin to shoot up. I feel like he got tired of trying to fight a loss cause and at the same time fight his own battle with the addiction he has. After taking the drug Mike then begins to masturbate as well right in the kitchen! Even though not in the mood to do it, he was just trying to start an argument with his argument what he called "the final fight, the final moment" but he was too late and his girlfriend has now finished and went to sleep leaving him to look crazy.
5.This story I think is my favorite so far because of its realism but it has a funny side to it. I do feel bad for mike because as he is trying to change his girlfriend who he has been with for 2 years is hindering him from being the bettering him because she keep taking his drugs that he is trying to quit, then again I question why does he still have the drugs if he is trying to remain clean. I feel the title symbolizes their relationship in a sense. In tennis the ball goes back and forth and it is very strenuous, I feel that the relationship has become a match between the two. I enjoyed this story and its hence on symbolism and lightness but all the way real at the same time. Good read!
