Welcome to the blog for Prof. John Talbird's English 221 class. The purpose of this site is two-fold: 1) to continue the conversations we start in class (or to start conversations BEFORE we get to class) and 2) to practice our writing/reading on a weekly basis in an informal forum.

Before She was a memory

Of the first skim through of that story, I was questioning the title itself then I felt as though the scene came into the story immediately drawing us in the with the police officer, while she does not recognize the body, yet she is assumed to have to been. It kind of reminded me of a parent who has gone a long time without seeing there child, and sees them again, yet not in the best state. She mentions they had given me a pill a few times, so I'm already questioning her state of consciousness at the moment. "It occurred to me that I couldn't be sure. It occurred to me that perhaps I'd recognize her not by how she looked but how she looked at me, that perhaps that's how anyone knows anything, not by the looking but by the looking back." I froze reading this.... I feel it carries the weight of the story with so much truth in it.
