Welcome to the blog for Prof. John Talbird's English 221 class. The purpose of this site is two-fold: 1) to continue the conversations we start in class (or to start conversations BEFORE we get to class) and 2) to practice our writing/reading on a weekly basis in an informal forum.

The Third Time My Father Tried To Kill Me

Something about this story really stuck out to me. The realism of it. The sensitive subject matter and the fact that it is very easy to relate to it. Many people suffer abuse at the hands of a parent and it is one of the saddest things in life. The narrator has such vivid memories of these events, even when he's younger and paints this picture of a psychotic father that is this menace in his life. I actually know people who have this problem and it is painful to imagine this goes on, but it does. One of my favorite stories so far!
