"You Will Excuse Me" was a favorite. I thoroughly enjoyed the ambiguity of he illness. though, I found it to be evident that his illness had something to do with cancer. the idea of a relapse was enough for me to be sure of that. I also appreciated the skirting around the topic, while staying on task.
I find that it is something hard to do. I am intruiged by the display of emotions. I'm sure that it is pretty evident, however I think each emotion is hidden and escalates. I think an underlying theme is grief and I like the contrast between the main character and his wife. Both are dealing with grief and the stages one must go through to deal with it. and while all of these particular memories had its own emotion I think each one signifies a part of his own journey. the end line "pretends there are good things in store" implies that even though he has been through this ordeal before, I doubt that his out look is in any way positive even though he is trying to be.
