Welcome to the blog for Prof. John Talbird's English 221 class. The purpose of this site is two-fold: 1) to continue the conversations we start in class (or to start conversations BEFORE we get to class) and 2) to practice our writing/reading on a weekly basis in an informal forum.

OBJECTS OF DESIRE

Seems like the character Xin Bao had a wild night all for getting his desire to come true. which did

happen seems like in this story Xin Bao raped her. In this story Xin Bao steals a macaw to give to his

so called love because she wanted the bird.  Fast Forward he woke up with a hangover and the

macaw squawked "JAIL, JAIL, JAIL". for two reasons stealing the macaw and for my guess raping

her. my question is, was this a dream.

  1. Doesn't Price write "...dashing his...hope that it had all just been a dream." No dream, right? Why do you lean toward that conclusion?

  2. I leaned towards this conclusion because the girl he wanted was just a dream. A hope that was not in the cards. The bird represent ed the failure of his conquest and where he is ending up.
