Welcome to the blog for Prof. John Talbird's English 221 class. The purpose of this site is two-fold: 1) to continue the conversations we start in class (or to start conversations BEFORE we get to class) and 2) to practice our writing/reading on a weekly basis in an informal forum.

AT HOME WITH RAPPER'S DELIGHT

This short story made me think how music influences change ; plus along with that change is to move

forward. Examples of this " his father is disco song" my guess is the main character's father is

stuck in the 70's and not willing to move forward. The main character graduating in 1997, being

the last person to finish with having an email. Rapper's delight could be an indication of a time when

things were fun and flashy like the 80's. Where it says ''it's 2001, MCs have stopped talking about

funky their beat is and giving shout-outs at the end of a song'' meaning music now and at the time is

more introverted and less creative like in times past. Basically the message of this story is music has

the power to change time.

Does knowing the original source for these names change your reading of the story?
