Welcome to the blog for Prof. John Talbird's English 221 class. The purpose of this site is two-fold: 1) to continue the conversations we start in class (or to start conversations BEFORE we get to class) and 2) to practice our writing/reading on a weekly basis in an informal forum.

Endings for July, Jack and Sc'khol

Jack, in July

The ending was kind of depressing but stayed consistent with the jest of the story. Through out the story Jack basically lets you down at every opportunity he has. Every thought was basically sewed by the addiction to heroin. His addiction caused him to loose a lot of important people in his life with out any remorse. Some how though I felt that he might have made it out because of the vernacular used in his conversation. Ultimately  Jack feeling like his heart was jumping back in to the mans fat little fingers was just him going right back to the drug.

Moral of the story some people you just can't help. Some things are just what they are. You can't stop it.

Sh'khol

This story was a little boring to me but it seem to have the same general lesson that we saw in Jack, in July. The mother was all over the kid all the time, made me feel a little stifled. He gets lost but comes back as not as the same kid he left. Same message some things you can't stop.
