Although many disagree with the style of this book calling it "busy" or "too much" and even "confusing" to my surprise I honestly enjoyed this reading, the very things that people didnt take to in the book I seemed to get intrigued by. The way the character wild turkey jumps from past memories and present time makes the story very interesting and to me keeps your mind from robotic reading.
* This story is the bitter reality of what happens to soldiers from the war who may suffer badly from mental issues after and perhaps even during the war. Unfortunately this is a story of a soldier who is now homeless due to his circumstances and is now battling with drugs and the memories from "the fugue" which is what the called Iraq.
* Even though this story is a little hard to follow I feel if you like just focus on what wild turkey is really saying you can follow his cycle of waking up in different places. The story allows you to go through his emotions because of it being in second-person. All in all I really enjoyed the story from the beginning in his crumbled room to the repetitive phrase "jeannie in a bottle" to the very end where he wakes up in all of his memories. A good read for me.
Nice response, Khadijah. I agree that despite the difficulty of this story, it pays off if you stick w/ it. You can write about a character suffering from PTSD or you can make your audience really feel what that must be like. If you choose the later option, you're probably going to create some confusion for your readers b/c that's the state of being of a character like that.
