Welcome to the blog for Prof. John Talbird's English 221 class. The purpose of this site is two-fold: 1) to continue the conversations we start in class (or to start conversations BEFORE we get to class) and 2) to practice our writing/reading on a weekly basis in an informal forum.

"Sh'khol"- Ending Reaction

Once Tomas is brought back home with his mother, it is most importantly a feeling of great relief. I think the mother will always feel the effects of that fear she felt when she thought her son had drowned. However, the ending is somewhat peaceful. It is the calm AFTER the storm. She gets him in the bath and it is just back to normal now. Not so much as if nothing ever happened, but what can they do? The fact that he is home is a blessing in her mind. The last thing she wants to do is relive it in her head and be fearful of living life. He won't stay a child forever and even though they will never forget this experience, especially her, they must move on because life continues.
