Welcome to the blog for Prof. John Talbird's English 221 class. The purpose of this site is two-fold: 1) to continue the conversations we start in class (or to start conversations BEFORE we get to class) and 2) to practice our writing/reading on a weekly basis in an informal forum.

Madame Lazarus

This story was very interesting; when she says “please don’t leave” I think he was basically begging Dezi to stay because he feels as if she’s the only one who really cares for him. I believe based on the flow of his and Dezi relationship in the story that Dezi will stay with him. To me this story revolves around aging he refers a lot about aging when it comes to himself. he’s also dating a younger man whom doesn’t seem to love him because he doesn't spend any time with him he's always away I think he's avoiding the relationship and he feels it and thinks it’s because of his age. They even refer to aging when it comes to the dog, by saying she’s getting old it’s time to put her down, this affects Madame Lazarus because he compares himself to the dog when it come to age and feels like he himself will die soon.
