Welcome to the blog for Prof. John Talbird's English 221 class. The purpose of this site is two-fold: 1) to continue the conversations we start in class (or to start conversations BEFORE we get to class) and 2) to practice our writing/reading on a weekly basis in an informal forum.

Jack, July

Clearly Jack is an addicted, I say that because when I first began to read I couldn't understand what was happening.  Jacks addiction to meth is an escape from his life.  The author does a good job of making the reader feel the emotions of an addict.  Unexperienced in it myself, I can only assume that being high makes life erratic, from Jack's thoughts to the flicking of his fingers.  The story makes a clear turning point of where he no longer is high.  When Jack is high his thoughts are more positive and its almost like he believes everyone else is crazy.  But as his high wears off theres a sense of desperation, clarity as to why people avoid him or shun him.  Moral of this story is don't do drugs (lol) you'll lose everything you hold dear to you and replace it with things and or people who you never would have dealt with (Jamie).

It was crazy that Jack didn't question his sexual preference until he was desperate for a sugar mama or in his case a sugar daddy.
