Welcome to the blog for Prof. John Talbird's English 221 class. The purpose of this site is two-fold: 1) to continue the conversations we start in class (or to start conversations BEFORE we get to class) and 2) to practice our writing/reading on a weekly basis in an informal forum.

Motherlode Response

The tone of this story is very slow and almost nonchalant in it's delivery. Even as David is getting literally kidnaped outside of the diner, there''s noses of panic from neither him nor his captor, Ray. Who just kidnaps him not because he's special, but because he's just trying to buy time if and when this guy he has at gunpoint is going to call the police. The only real urgency comes from how fast Ray wants to get to this person (who we later find out is Morsel) asking/demanding David put a little more lead in his foot. With the interaction between the two already seeming chummier than it should ever be in a circumstance like this.
