Welcome to the blog for Prof. John Talbird's English 221 class. The purpose of this site is two-fold: 1) to continue the conversations we start in class (or to start conversations BEFORE we get to class) and 2) to practice our writing/reading on a weekly basis in an informal forum.

Jack, July was the one i preferred out of the two.  I the story as a whole gave me a cyclical feel. my final thought is that Jake goes to James whenever he's running low or is out of meth and constantly or will constantly find himself there. His constant state of depression and  his inability to cope with his failure is re-enforced by his easily released concerns upon the revelation of  a drug supply.  his character had such a complex background and numerous issues that an ending that implied the continued meth use was more like a cliffhanger. we knew he would continue to use but we did not know how far he would go, or where it would lead him. I wanted more, and i think that great endings leave you wanting more without there ever being a necessity for more.that being said, i still want to know whats going on with Lisa, was Beatrice going to AA meetings? or church meetings? Could her apparent alcohol addiction and pill popping addiction been what pushed her son an daughter away? forcing them to depend on each other and eventually ruining their family. is it jack's fault? or his mothers. is Lisa to blame. Why can't I stop  thinking about someone to blame?
