Welcome to the blog for Prof. John Talbird's English 221 class. The purpose of this site is two-fold: 1) to continue the conversations we start in class (or to start conversations BEFORE we get to class) and 2) to practice our writing/reading on a weekly basis in an informal forum.

Jack, July- Response

"Jack, July" really confused me at first. I started to catch on that I was dealing with some type of addict here. As I went on, I started to feel bad for Jack. He has these memories that seem all over the place but are just normal to him. As a reader it is confusing, but I guess we are supposed to feel what he feels. just randomness, confusion, loneliness. Maybe that is what someone in his situation experiences. I felt alone while reading. I couldn't really connect with the characters, but I did feel pity for Jack. I feel like he is always looking to get his next fix, whatever that may be. The ending just seemed like nothing ever happened. He talks to Jaime about being hungry. It is just so random and ordinary. Interesting read, but not one of my favorites.
