Welcome to the blog for Prof. John Talbird's English 221 class. The purpose of this site is two-fold: 1) to continue the conversations we start in class (or to start conversations BEFORE we get to class) and 2) to practice our writing/reading on a weekly basis in an informal forum.

Jack, July

Jack July had some what a comforting ending i was happy that he didn't take his own life on the railroad tracks, instead he goes by a friends home and seeks comfort, food, and shelter. Jack goes to the only person he has left that will welcome him with open arms, I'm not sure that he feels the same way for his friend whom i believe to be interested in him, however he gets to be somewhere safe with food and shelter. I'm not sure what happens to jack moving forward because the story ends without knowing we don't get to see if jack gets himself straighten out and gets clean and has a normal life or if he even ever sees his sister again. Therefore this conclusion leaves us hanging in some way, even though we know that he doesn't kill himself we dont know of what happens to his relationship with the other characters. what is the purpose of his sisters story if we never got to see what happened to her. I know that this is in jacks view but the author invites her story into view and just leaves us hanging.
