Welcome to the blog for Prof. John Talbird's English 221 class. The purpose of this site is two-fold: 1) to continue the conversations we start in class (or to start conversations BEFORE we get to class) and 2) to practice our writing/reading on a weekly basis in an informal forum.

Sh'khol

The conclusion to the story Sh'khol, was very effective on myself as a reader. The conclusion was a happy ending, because the mother and son were reunited. Also, after further evaluation of her son, it turned out that he wasn't abused. As a reader, this most definitely answered some of my questions from the beginning of the story. When I read that Tomas had disappeared, I thought that someone most likely would have taken him, and abused him. However, when reaching the end, the author answered my question that Tomas hadn't been abused. As a reader, I felt like this conclusion was very effective because the questions that I had in the beginning of the story had been answered by the end of the story.
