Welcome to the blog for Prof. John Talbird's English 221 class. The purpose of this site is two-fold: 1) to continue the conversations we start in class (or to start conversations BEFORE we get to class) and 2) to practice our writing/reading on a weekly basis in an informal forum.

Big Cat and Moving on
In the story "Big Cat" the ending intrigues me more to the character then from the beginning. The author uses the ending to give you the sense of a whole new mood or emotion introduced. In my opinion I felt like it opened a new door and the story was left with a cliff hanger. In the "Big Cat" the characters wife and daughter played the role in the story as his main reason "why". For example his daughter Valery was the reason why he was even still in contact with his wife and his wife personality and familiarity was the reason why he really stayed so connected to her in the first place. After they got remarried and he realized that in all reality his wife "swallowed" his heart which in my analysis could mean that she has a hold on him that he can't let go and she in all reality wears the pants in the relationship being the big cat, I still feel like he has no control over his new found emotion.
