Wallace appears to arrive at his Ex Kim's house after already missing a visitation appointment with his daughter. Though Wallace seems to be experiencing a not so typically bad day, it does seem by Kim's sarcastic digging reactions that it is typical for him (Wallace).
He always seems to have an excuse. He wears an invisible report card of fail grades and is constantly judged by Kim. A very uncomfortable situation for Wallace. Difficult to recover from. Even though she may be right, Kim's digs create a self perpetuating prophecy of negativity and continuous failure for him. He might think he can't make her happy in anyway.
Wallace is not totally at peace with himself. He has a set of beliefs like a code that he has created. He wants to live his life the best way he knows how. He knows that his daughter is important. I believe he loves her enough to choose to limit or even remove her from his lifestyle.
He's a cage fighter. He is at his best when he's working whether training for a fight or actually fighting. But when he lost he was completely removed from it as if he had failed at the only thing he was good at.
When he dropped "the man in the green coat" on his ass, Wallace didn't question his sanity. He (Wallace) only held his temper as long as he could. Wallace received question after question and when it was too much, the green jacket got muddy. As if a release of his anger in the most controlled but direct even though inappropriate way... Wallace did warn him though. Wallace should have just walked away, but I think he needed the release and allowed green coat guy to bring him to his boiling point.
Now fast forward to him trying to both hide from potential arrest from police for assault and battery but to also make peace in different areas of his life. He goes to Kim's house seeking comfort and to clear his conscience maybe for missing a date with his daughter. Kim doesn't coddle or enable him in anyway.
