Welcome to the blog for Prof. John Talbird's English 221 class. The purpose of this site is two-fold: 1) to continue the conversations we start in class (or to start conversations BEFORE we get to class) and 2) to practice our writing/reading on a weekly basis in an informal forum.

Response to page page 90

The scene was written vividly, I could envision the house Kim lives in, the snail partially crushed, also the writer's description worked well for us to understand the not so happy relationship between Kim and Wallace.

His daughter looking at him with a blank stare gives us an idea of how she feels about her, I sense a lack of closeness between them.

Wallace was truthful to her by telling her about what had just happened, but as always she was mad and disappointed in him

Response to page 97

It was this part of the story where the title really applies to. Wallace seemed to be a patient and listened to Kim and the old lady as they spoke with him. He was also good with his words, the old woman at the door trusted him enough to invite him into the house.

Both scenes ties in together showing that Wallace has a good heart, he showed up to see his daughter even though it was after his visit date. He made the effort to go say sorry to the man whom he had resisted to beating up earlier. Also both scenes shows his passion for fighting. I sense his face lighting up and him being proud to say he is a fighter.

I wonder what happens next when the man walks in his home, does an argument break out? Did Wallace get to apologies?
